On Friday, October 28th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer hosted his 2nd Annual Hispanic Leadership Awards at Arepas Café  in Dutch Kills/Astoria. Over one hundred community members attended the award ceremony where several individuals from the community were honored and recognized.

On October 26th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer addressed community residents and activists at Woodside Neighborhood Association’s Town Hall meeting held at St. Sebastian’s Parish Center. 

Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer Donates School Supplies to PS 166

On Friday, October 21st, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined students, Principal Janet Farrell and staff at PS 166 in Dutch Kills to donate supplies from his 2ndAnnual Back to School Supply Drive for local schools. This year, the Council Member’s drive received over 4,000 items that were donated by community members. The items were dropped off at five libraries throughout District 26 and his district office at 47-01 Queens Boulevard. The items included book bags, writing materials, rulers, and much more!

COUNCIL MEMBER VAN BRAMER ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR TEEN ROOM AT WOODSIDE LIBRARY

On Tuesday, October 18th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer was joined by Tom Galante, President and CEO of the Queens Library, at the Woodside Library to announce $125,000 in capital funding that will be used for a new reading room for teens.

COUNCIL MEMBER VAN BRAMER SPEAKS OUT AGAINST SUNNYSIDE GROPER

On Monday, October 17th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer held a press conference on 46th Street and Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside to alert the public and aggressively search for a perpetrator who has been groping women, and one 12-year-old girl in the Sunnyside/Woodside neighborhoods of Queens. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male between 30 and 40, has been seen riding a black mountain bike as he rides up behind the women and grabs them inappropriately before fleeing. He has been striking the same general area within a few blocks of each other. The most recent incident happened October 7th at 39th Avenue and 46th Street.
