Council Member Van Bramer Teams Up With Local Organizations for Community Clean Up Day

On Saturday May 15th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined forces with the Sunnyside United Neighborhood Network (SUNN), the Friends of Windmuller Park and neighbors in a community effort to clean up local streets and parks.

“I’m pleased to be introducing these two pieces of legislation today,” said Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer. “While this resolution and bill deal with very different topics they both strive to reach the same goal – safeguarding our residents and making our neighborhoods a safer place to live. The resolution seeks to protect the most vulnerable among us, our senior citizens and the disabled, while the bill seeks to create a comprehensive plan to avoid future catastrophes when drilling near flammable pipelines takes place.”

“Closing 20 engine companies will result in dangerous increases in response times, more lives lost and an incalculable increase in property damage,” said Captain Alexander Hagan, President of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association. “Every person who lives or works in New York City faces an increased level of danger if their Fire Department is seriously damaged.”
