COUNCIL MEMBER VAN BRAMER VISITS LOCAL ARTISTS AND ENCOURAGES GOVERNMENT ADVOCACY FOR THE ARTS

On November 30th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined the non-profit arts advocacy organization Fractured Atlas for a question and answer session with local artists at Topaz Arts in Woodside. As Chair of the Cultural Affairs and Libraries Committee, Council Member Van Bramer is a longtime advocate of the arts and has worked to foster an environment in his district and across New York City that both encourages and supports thriving artist communities.

“I believe we need a dialogue that will help shape as well as protect the future of culture and the arts in New York City,” said Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer. “The arts, and the artists who create art, enrich our communities and support our local economy. Organizations like Fractured Atlas and Topaz Arts provide indispensible services to our city.”

Fractured Atlas offers support to New York artists and encourages support for the arts at all levels of government. Topaz Arts rents studio space in Woodside for artists and offers performance space to display their work.

"The city's artists are fortunate to have a tireless champion in Jimmy Van Bramer. He understands and supports our community at a depth that is rare and wonderful among public officials,” said Fractured Atlas Executive Director Adam Huttler. “We at Fractured Atlas look forward to many more years of fruitful collaboration around our shared goal of ensuring that New York City remains the cultural capital of the western world."
